Spring 2025 Hair Trends
We’ve seen some glimpses of blue skies, we’ve felt the sun on our skin, and £1 bunches of daffodils and mini eggs are back in the supermarkets. It’s official- spring is just around the corner, so now’s the perfect time to embrace change and refresh your look for the longer, sunnier days to come. In preparation, we asked our team to share their top hair trends for the upcoming season. Get ready to be inspired!
Embrace the side parting
It’s official: the side parting is here for 2025, and in a big way. Whether you opt for a sleek, defined finish or a more tousled, natural look, the good news is that this trend works for all hair lengths and textures.
To give your side sweep extra polish, prep your damp hair with Aveda Smooth Infusion Style-Prep Smoother, £31, before drying. After styling, smooth and define your parting with Aveda Air Control Hairspray, £27. Jonathan recommends spraying your palms and smoothing them down the hair shaft for ultimate shine and hold, without any residue.
Discover your new hue
Pantone named Mocha Mousse 2025’s colour of the year, so get set to see it dominate everything from interiors and Pinterest boards to catwalks and beauty counters this spring. Combining velvety brown tones with creamy warmth, this rich shade looks modern and chic. It also suits anyone, working beautifully as an all-over, multi-dimensional colour, applied as part of balayage treatment, or just a few carefully placed highlights. It’s just about having a consultation with your stylist to find the perfect shade and colour treatment for you.
Bring back the 90s
Supersized Hollywood hair is back, inspired by 90s icons like Cindy Crawford. Think full-bodied and bouncy, with plenty of lift at the roots. Key to this look is to blow-dry using a round brush with a large barrel to add volume. To ensure you don’t sacrifice shine in the quest for va-va voom, use a heat protectant spray before styling. We love Aveda’s Heat Relief Thermal Protector and Conditioning Mist, £27.
Master the French girl bob
One of the standout styles for 2025, this iteration of the bob is effortlessly chic and low maintenance. Less structured than a classic blunt bob, it sits just above the jawline and features soft, subtle layers for movement. For that trés Parisian “I just woke up like this” vibe, style with Aveda’s Texture Tonic, £25.50, to create a naturally tousled, undone texture.
Say goodbye to dry: hydrate your hair
Healthy, hydrated hair is the foundation to a great look, no matter your style. Long winter months and heated styling tools can wreak havoc on your locks, leaving them feeling dry and brittle. With a nourishing blend of pomegranate oil, coconut oil and mango butter, Aveda’s nutrient-rich Nutriplenish range is a must-have if you have dry, dull hair. Nutriplenish Daily Moisturising Treatment, £36, is Jake’s go-to product for all his clients, as he explains here.
If your hair is damaged rather than naturally dry, look to the Botanical Repair collection to smooth and strengthen, and repair your hair from within. The Strengthening Leave-in Treatment, £36, is a longtime Shine favourite that we are always recommending to clients.
Nourish from within
Packed with essential vitamins and minerals, Glowwa Hair Food supports healthier, stronger hair growth, and can help reduce hair loss, too. Spring is the season of renewal, so there’s no better time to incorporate these vegan-friendly supplements into your daily routine. Available to buy in the salon.
What we’re loving this month
Escaping the elements
The long winter months have been significantly brightened with a visit to Beach Box Brighton sauna spa, which is right on the beach. Exhilarating mid-sauna sea dip, optional (but highly recommended).
Amandaland (iPlayer)
If like us, you were worried that this spin-off couldn’t possibly live up to Motherland’s brilliance, you can rest easy. Amandaland is full of the same spot-on school gate satire, and even more Joanna Lumley, which is always a good thing. We binged the lot in one sitting.
That’s all for this month. Book your next appointment with us online, by email or over the phone. Hope to see you soon!
