Hello! At the time of writing, summer has finally made its long awaited appearance so we hope you’re enjoying all the sunshine. After everything the world has thrown at us over recent months we definitely all deserve some blue skies and good vibes. Anyway, here’s a little update from us here at Shine…

Stay safe

So while today is apparently Freedom Day, in reality not much will change here at Shine. We want you to feel relaxed and comfortable while you're with us so we will continue to maintain the reduced numbers of clients and staff in the salon at any one time, so everyone has plenty of space. Please do not enter the salon until it is time for your appointment, and use the hand sanitiser stationed at the entrance.

Regarding wearing a mask, while we are not going to insist you wear one, we would prefer it if you did, especially when the salon is busier. As always if you have any concerns please let us know; our priority is ensuring our clients and staff feel safe and that you enjoy every minute of your time here at Shine (and love your new hair, obviously).

And a big thank you from us to you all for your continued support during what has been a very challenging time.

Team news

Veronica and Alice are still on maternity leave with their beautiful little ones, and their big boots continue to be filled by the rest of us, including our newest team members, Cecilia and Collette. Both of them are super-talented and very experienced, as well as being super lovely, and we’re loving having them as part of the Shine crew. There’s also another new team member we’ve been excited to introduce you to. Some of you will remember Jonathan’s lovely dog Poppy, who has spent many a day curled up at the feet of various clients over the years. Sadly, Poppy passed away a couple of months ago at a grand old age, and while she can never be replaced, poor Griff was getting lonely without his play mate. So meet Sylvie! At the moment she’s like a toddler who broke into a Skittles jar, but hopefully one day she will find her inner calm and it will be safe for her to come and visit the salon.

Plastic-free fantastic

Acting as a reminder for us all to think about how we can reduce our single-use plastic waste at home, school or work, Plastic Free July is a global movement aimed at getting us all to make those small daily changes that all add up to help make a big difference. From taking your own reusable bags to the supermarket to ditching disposable takeaway coffee cups in favour of using your own reusable one, there are so easy ways we can all reduce our plastic consumption. Product of the month

If the weekend’s scorching weather left you fighting the frizz, can we introduce you to Aveda’s Smooth Infusion Style-Prep Smoother, £23. Claiming to combat humidity for up to 12 hours, this wonder treatment is consistently one of Aveda’s best-rated products, and we haven’t yet found a product that smooths locks quite like it.
