And what better way to switch things up than with a brand new hair shade?

From warm, rich browns through to ashy blondes and pops of vibrant colour, there are plenty of gorgeous back-to-school hair trends to inspire you this autumn, showing that just because the nights are drawing in (sob!), it doesn’t necessarily mean you need to embrace the dark side. Trend: Copper Crush

Sometimes clients are a bit cautious about going all out red, worried it’s a hard look to pull off everyday. Versatile and super-flattering, copper is an easier shade to embrace, which helps explain why it’s one of the hair trends to watch this season. Go subtle with a golden strawberry shade, or sassy with a bright as a penny, more vivid tone.

Perfect for: A great transitional shade for blondes or brunettes., copper is a colour with variations that can work on pretty much everyone.

Trend: Mushroom Blonde

Don’t be put off by the name. This not quite blonde, not quite brunette shade was a massive trend on Pinterest over the summer, and with its combination of ashy blonde and cool, grey undertones (where the mushroom bit comes in) it’s the perfect transitional colour for this time of year too.

Perfect for: This low-key shade is any easy way for brunettes to go lighter, or for blondes to tone down sun-bleached highlights. Great for blending with grey hair too, and it’s very low maintenance.

Trend: Gingerbread Caramel

A gorgeously subtle mix of rich pumpkin tones and golden caramel hues, this is a really wearable trend that will add warmth and lift the skin through the long winter months. Roots can be kept natural, with the lifted tones free-painted to the ends or around the face.

Perfect for: Anyone looking to transition blonde highlights into autumn, or to add depth and dimension to darker hair.

Trend: Jewel Tones

If summer was all about unicorn hair and dreamy pastel melts, autumn will see a richer palette of purple, violet, deep pink and even sapphire tones filling your Instagram feed.
