How to Survive January
While new year’s resolutions aren’t for everyone (and let’s face it, by this point in the month are usually forgotten by all but the most steadfast of us), the new year is still a great opportunity to refocus and practice a bit of self-care, while trying not to make January any harder than it has to be. So here’s a few things that are tempting us out from under the duvet and helping us feel just that little bit more ready to face the world… even if it is a bit grim out there.
If like us you indulged in one too many sherries over Christmas, you might be going ‘dry’ this month. But thankfully abstinence no longer means another dull night on the lime and soda. If you haven’t yet discovered Seedlip, you’re in for a treat. These aromatic and flavour-filled non-alcoholic spirits won’t leave you feeling like you’re giving up anything. Just serve long with tonic.
Veganuary is another new year health trend that seems to have really taken off this year, and we know lots of you are giving it a go. Luckily for us, we are spoilt for choice here in Brighton with a really diverse range of vegan-friendly eateries. We love Purezza’s plant-based sourdough pizzas, and you have to try the 100% vegan sushi from Happy Maki, where for every wrap bought they donate money to feed a child and plant a tree.
There’s no doubt that concentrating on what you put into your body will leave you looking and feeling perkier. But if your hair is still lacking a bit of bounce this month, here at Shine we recommend Aveda’s Invati Advanced range. Containing organic turmeric to invigorate the scalp, the products work together to thicken the hair without weighing it down, and they smell divine. Voila, instant va va voom to brighten up even the bleakest January day. Chat to your stylist next time you’re in if you’d like to give it a try.
And if December’s excesses are still playing havoc with your sleeping patterns, these self-heating jasmine infused eye masks from Spacemasks are simply genius. You can thank us later.
Finally, our tip from the team- this month courtesy of Adam: This month I’ll mostly be… "binge-watching Black Mirror"
We hope to see you in the salon soon. You can book your next appointment with us online, by email or phone. And remember if you recommend a friend to visit Shine for the first time, you’ll both enjoy £10 off your visit. Win, win!
