Time to say goodbye to those lockdown locks…

Now that Boris has officially given us the green light we are absolutely delighted to confirm that we will be throwing open our doors again on 12th April and we really can’t wait to welcome you back to Shine! In a strictly Covid compliant, socially distanced manner, obviously…

We’re sure you’re all old hand at this by now, but just to remind all our clients to please wear a mask when visiting the salon and come to your appointment alone. If you arrive early for your appointment you will need to wait outside the salon, and if you are experiencing any coronavirus symptoms please do not come to the salon but call ahead to cancel. If you have booked a colour treatment and you have not had your colour done by us within the last six months we will be in touch prior to your appointment to arrange a skin test.

By following government guidelines, limiting how many staff and clients are in the salon at any one time and extending our usual opening hours we will continue to do everything we can to protect the health and wellbeing of our clients and staff, and ensure you have a safe and enjoyable experience while you’re with us. If you haven’t booked your post-lockdown appointment yet our online booking system is live, or you can call or email us if you are having problems finding a convenient appointment time.

So what’s new with us? We’d love to say that between us the Shine team mastered the perfect sourdough, smashed every Joe Wicks workout and Marie Kondo-ed our homes from top to bottom during Lockdown 3.0, but to be honest it’s been more about daily walks, family time and box set binge watching (current team favourites include Schitt’s Creek, Call my Agent, Your Honor, Unforgotten and ZeroZeroZero). However, Jonathan was missing chatting with clients so much while we’ve been closed that he has started recording a podcast series! The Shine podcast has given him the perfect opportunity to chat to some really interesting people who have set up fantastic independent green businesses; finding out what inspired them, what they’ve learnt along the way and what small simple change they think we could all make to collectively help make a big difference. Have a listen, and let us know what you think!

Jonathan’s new podcast project reenforces that since we launched back in 2007 Shine has always had green credentials at its heart; from the products we use in the salon to the partners we choose to work with. We have always prioritised recycling and ensured none of the waste we produce ends up in landfill. We have now started working with the Green Salon Collective, meaning that from now on our waste not only avoids landfill, but 100% of any money raised from recycling it or new products made from the waste goes to charities including Foodcycle, Haircuts 4 The Homeless and Tree Planting. And while we’re on the subject of eco-friendly choices, we were thrilled that our Shine shampoo bar was recently given a big thumbs up by The Independent! If you’re yet to give it a try Shine shampoo bars are available to buy from the salon or online (refill bars also available).

Finally, we are delighted to welcome two new super talented team members to the Shine family; Cecilia and Collette. Cecilia specialises in colouring hair, and Collette has over 20 years experience in hairdressing. You can book an appointment with either of them here. And talking of new arrivals, both Veronica and Alice are currently on maternity leave after Veronica welcomed beautiful little Annabella to the world last year, and the gorgeous Maeve made Alice a new mum just last month. If you would like to arrange an appointment with anyone while Veronica and Alice are away from the salon please get in touch.

Think that’s it for now! We look forward to seeing you all very soon, and getting our hands on those lockdown locks. Dodgy home hair cuts and outgrown roots, your days are well and truly numbered…

Book your next appointment with us online, by email or over the phone.
